Marion Kirabo

Marion Kirabo is a feminist and a final year student at Makerere University School of Law, a notable achievement despite having dyslexia-a learning disability. She is the founder of the NextGen Woman Initiative that seeks to increase and enhance women’s participation in electoral Democracy, especially in institutions of learning. She participated in the 2021 Local Government elections in Uganda as Woman Councilor Local Council III contestant where she emerged as first runner up of five candidates, and lost by seven votes. She was the 85th Minister for Gender, Ethics and Integrity at Makerere University in the 85th Students Guild (2019/2021). She also served as the Makerere University Chapter Secretary for Finance of the Uganda Young Democrats. She has been featured on Aljazeera Inside Story and has been provided commentary in various international media on women and gender issues. Marion also conceptualized and ran a creative Performance Arts campaign against Sexual Harassment dubbed the ‘Two for One Talent for Change Campaign’ from September 2019 that appreciates positive masculinity in collaborative efforts to fight the vice. The Campaign reached out to over ten thousand members of the University Community. She was a key crusader of the 2019 #FeesMustFall Campaign at the University that demanded a reduction in tuition fees at the University such that underprivileged can also afford University Education.
